What is an ARFF file?

Attribute Relation File Format is ARFF in full. It is an ASCII text file extension commonly used by Weka which is a machine learning software. The software is free under the GNU General Public License. It is made up of two unique sections; a header section coupled with a list of attributes i.e., date, relational, numeric, nominal string and their data. It also entails a data section with the values. You can use these files for regression and data clustering.
When working with Weka, it usually works with ARFF files which are basically an extension of the CSV file. The header in CSV file holds metadata regarding the data types in the columns. CSV files must first be loaded in the ARFF viewer to use them on Weka. You can do that by exporting the data from an Excel sheet and then converting it to CSV format. You can then load the files on the Weka tool and then save in ARFF format.
