What is an ITHMB file?
Ithmb was created by apple for use on an iPod that enables the display of images. It’s also used to organize pictures in photo management programs that are specific to these programs. Thumbnail images are small versions of the larger images. The files are used as a link to the original larger image, located on the device where a thumbnail is stored. When you save a photo in an iPod, an ithmb file is created to enable convenient viewing of the image. Ithmb files are created on a PC when a user syncs an IOS device with iTunes. The files are used in organizing image in photo management programs. Additionally, they can store up to 25 images with each larger image located on the device. Once you click a thumbnail, a larger version of the thumbnail opens. Unfortunately, ithmb files aren’t widely supported. However, you can convert it into other more supported images like picAid or file juicer.
