What is a 3MF file?
Developed by 3MF Consortium in 2015, the 3MF extension refers to a Three-Dimensional Manufacturing Format. Several 3D designing and rendering programs use the format to store their designs. It is an XML-based file type and contains the basic render and metadata attached to it, such as property information, material configuration, etc.
The 3MF format uses the ZIP compression to keep the final size in control and aims to be the only format for designing and fabrication processes.
